Diabetology
Diabetes is a term used to refer to a chronic disease, characterized by a high concentration of glucose in the blood, in turn caused by a lack of insulin in the human body. Diabetes has recently become a very common problem, affecting a large percentage of the population.
SalusGate offers both in Italy and Spain, outpatient interventions for all patients with diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2, as well as for those at risk of diabetes.
Type 1, also called juvenile or insulin-dependent, is characterized by dysfunction and progressive loss of pancreatic cells (beta-cells) that produce insulin.
Type 2 is characterized by the combined effect of two fundamental defects: the resistance of the tissues to insulin action (insulin resistance) and an inadequate compensatory insulin secretory response.
Our clinical facilities-partners are able to offer their patients the treatment of all possible complications of this disease in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner. The main goals of the therapy are self-management education, optimization of glycemic control and reduction of complications.
